Your Employment Goals Matter.
Learn how WIOA services and career supports can help you plan, train, and prepare for work.
Course Description
This course explains a federal law that supports people with disabilities in preparing for work and careers: The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law that helps people access employment, education, training, and support services. It is designed to promote meaningful work and long-term independence, including for individuals with disabilities.
- Participants will learn why WIOA exists, who it serves, and how it supports employment and training. The course explains the role of workforce programs and Vocational Rehabilitation in helping individuals explore careers, build skills, and work toward employment goals.
- The course also covers the WIOA process, including applying for services, setting goals, and developing an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE). Learners will review common supports such as job training, education, coaching, and other services that help people prepare for and succeed in work.
- In addition to learning about services, this course focuses on choice, participation, and self-advocacy. Participants will learn how to take part in planning, ask questions, and make informed decisions about their employment path.
This self-paced course is designed for youth and young adults who want a clear and practical understanding of employment supports and services under WIOA.
