Course Description
This course explains an important school law that protect students with disabilities: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 504 addresses protections for students with disabilities. Section 504 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance.
- You will learn why these laws were created, who they protect, and what public schools must provide. You will also learn how students qualify and how support plans are made.
- The course covers 504 Plans, including evaluations, meetings, and the roles of students, families, and school staff. You will learn about services and accommodations and how they are used in real school settings.
