Future Ready: Creating a Transition Portfolio
This course is designed to help youth and young adults with disabilities build a personal portfolio that tells their story, highlights their strengths, and supports their future goals. A portfolio is more than just a folder of documents, it’s a powerful tool you can use to show who you are, what you can do, and what supports help you succeed.
Through five interactive lessons, you will learn:
- Why portfolios matter for IEP meetings, job searches, vocational rehabilitation, and community life.
- How to create your own portfolio using free and easy tools.
- What to include in your portfolio—like interests, goals, schooling, work history, and supports.
- How to share your story through a short “About Me” introduction and your personal strengths.
- How to speak up for yourself by identifying the accommodations and supports that help you learn, work, and live your best life.
By the end of this course, you will be able to build a living portfolio that you can carry with you to IEP meetings, VR intakes, college programs, job interviews, or community groups. This portfolio will grow with you and help you advocate for your dreams, your goals, and your future.
